From the Editor

This issue of THE WORCESTER REVIEW is dedicated to the memory of a long-time Worcester County Poetry Association member and poet, Louise Monfredo, who died in March, 1987. Louise was brought up on a farm in Kansas where she walked to a one-room country school and rode horseback to a rural high school. Those beginnings remained very much a part of her work. Her book, THIN ICE, was published in 1981. She conducted many writing workshops for young and old alike, and was busy writing and working on another manuscript of poetry at the time of her death.

The poems printed here have been selected posthumously from that recent manuscript. To the best of my knowledge, this is their first publication.
